blink.gif Hi there

Anyone out there tried either the Souper Diet or Cabbage soup diet ? I started the souper diet today, trying to kick start some weight loss, seems a weird diet, but it's only for a week.

Anyone losts loads of weight on this ? Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Danyelle

Hi Danyelle

No, but I doubt a diet like that will do much. What happens when you stop it? do you put the weight back on? A structured diet and exercise regime will be more beneficial in the long term. If you post what you currently and what exercise you do so we can help you make the right decisions.

Hi there Pulse

Thanks for your reply. I'm just trying this for a kickstart, don't know if I'll make the week as day one has been difficult, my stomach's gurgling, think the veggie soup's getting the better of me !!

I don't exercise nearly enough, I bought an exercise bike recently but do not use it enough. I do enjoy walking, but that doesn't really help shift pounds.

Did anyone see the Trikke on the Gadget show tonight ? That looked good.

Hi Danyelle

I have seen those Trikke bikes before, they look great, I am thinking of getting one to help practise skiing.

Id agree with pulse about a proper diet and exercise plan, I have not heard of the souper diet but the cabbage diet sounds a bit suspect. You should really start using your exercise bike! wink.gif

Hi Andy

Try this link, you can buy them on line, they look fun. If you get one, let me know what you think.

When we say proper diet what are we talking about ? Exercising half an hour each day ? I agree, I really should get on with the exercise bike, even if it is boring !!

Thanks for your advice smile.gif

Hi

I think they mean a diet low in processed foods, sugars and fats and high in fibre and vegetables. Is the souper diet based on drinking soups? Soups can make a good meal replacement.

Hi there

The Souper diet is like the Cabbage Soup diet. You make a soup up for the week and then have days of only being able to have the soup and fruit, next day soup and vegetables, then next day soup, fruit and vegetables, then next day soup and banana's, then next day soup and chicken/fish, etc.

There is no dairy, no bread, pasta in this diet. It is only for the week, but I can't help thinking that this diet is very anti social - if you know what I mean !! blink.gif

Kind Regards

Danyelle

Hi

I'm only doing this for this week. I guess I will get some fats from the chicken I will get to eat on Thursday. Isn't it funny as soon as you go on a diet you (one) thinks about food alot more !!

You will think about food because your probably hungry! I mean fats like Omega 3 and 6 (mainly 3) On this kind of diet you will struggle to get EFAs. The fats in chicken are low in EFAs

Andy

I don't know what Omega 3 fats are ? Should I log off ? Although I would like to learn. I am hungry, today I've just eaten homemade vegetable soup (twice), baked apple, and fruits, nothing to bulk out. What should a good staple diet be made up of ?

Help !!

Hi Danyelle

AndyF is referring to 'healthy fats' that play in important part in our bodys but must come from our food. People on low fat diets tend to be deficient in these fats and can suffer poor skin and reduce defence to infection. These fats are polyunsaturated and can help reduce LDL cholestrol (bad), so its imporatant to make sure you get them. The best sources are oily fish such as salmon or mackerel, seed and flax oil. They are also found in leaf vegetables such as spinch. I would start your day with a bowl of porridge containing Pumpkin and sunflower seeds, or a table spoon of flax oil. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you miss it your more likely to snack later on. Make sure you eat protein as well.

Hi Danyelle

Yous should really eat a balanced diet e.g

Breakfast: Cereal/porridge etc
Midday snack: Piece of fruit
Dinner: Salad roll with meat or egg and you can drink your soup.
Afternoon snack: fruit or museli bar
Tea: Steamed veg with fish or meat. Small sweet potato.

Its better to eat smaller meal throughout the day. That way you will feel less hungry and your less likely to binge on fatty or sugary snacks.

Andy

Thank U so much for your advice. This week has been tough, but been OK. I love vegetables and fruit so I think this helps! My downfall is I also love cheese, but I haven't had any dairy this week. You're balanced diet doesn't include dairy either is that deliberate ?

Thanks again

D

Cheese is my downfall as well, see it as a 'treat' now and then rather than not eating it full stop.

Hi
You can eat dairy, in reasonable amounts e.g Museli and skimmed milk, low fat bio yogurts etc.
