I started running outside in February and built up over a month to running 3-4 miles, three times a week.
Then I got shin splints (probably from increasing too quickly) and had to stop running altogether for a month.

Now I have started again Im really struggling to run even two miles. Im not enjoying it any more and on the last 4 or 5 runs I seem to be getting even worse - I barely made it a mile last night and had to walk home, I kept trying to run again after a rest but couldnt.
Im getting really demoralised as I was really enjoying it before and was finding it quite easy and fun.

Why is it getting harder instead of easier? I go to the gym three times a week as well so I shouldnt have lost ALL my fitness in the month I didnt run as I was still doing other cardio.

Any ideas???

When you start back to running slow, try doing some interval training runs mixed with some brisk walking and then begin to slowly increase the amount of time that their candidate a. Do not try to run back to what I was doing before.
