Pull ups are the best, weighted if you can.

Right, I really want to start getting a bigger back. What the best way to hits my lats. Pull ups? Yes pullups are the best if you can nail enough in a row. Many bodybuilders inists on fully extended your arms on the negative then pulling up again, for me this was hard so instead of fully hanging i left my arms parallele to the floor on the negative. Also dumbell rows, shrugs, bentover barbell rows, theirs loads mate |

I really find seated rows, pull up and pull downs work my back.

Try as I might, I just can't do pull-ups on my own. A few years ago when my boyfriend used to train with me (he hates the gym - just did it to help me out) I could manage a maximum of 8 with him helping me but without assistance I can't do a single one. I use the assisted pull up machine at my gym in every back session but I don't find it nearly as effective. Any suggestions on how to be able to perform this exercise?

Any suggestions on how to be able to perform this exercise? sure - first of all switch to an underhand grip and hence bring your biceps in to help. You should find it easier. Also using the same underhand grip use the lat pull down bar in the machines section. I also tried pull ups and it is slow progress - I overcame this sticking point by using the above D -------------------- If only life was as simple..

Arnold Swarzenegger came up with a great tip.. if you cnat do many pull ups try doing lat pulldowns , and pulling sort of excercises till you start lifting your own bodyweight on the machiens with many reps then you can moe onto pullups, and once you have mastered the pullup you can do weighted pullups...
getting back to lats... rows would do fine.. but if you find yourself getting bored pelase vary the excercises, i tend to vary excercises every 6-8 weeks.. always gives better groth patterns, if you do grow with a certian pattern stick to it until progress curtails. |
