I'm a tea addict. I could never get through an entire day without a cup of freshly-brewed loose green tea. The smell alone is enough to make my mouth water and the delicious sensation of fresh hot tea sliding down my throat is something that I always take time to relish during my tea break. Green tea has tons of health benefits and is a great source of antioxidants. The ever increasing sale of green tea actually, is due to its ability to produce fat oxidation. This simply means that drinking green tea will act directly on your body to lessen your fats because of its natural oxidizing property. Some of the best green tea can be found at trentonteas.com. Cheers!

Green tea has recently caught the attention of scientists working to discover ways to prevent and treat cancer. Researchers began looking at green tea because of the significantly lower rates of certain diseases in Asian culture, where green tea is widely consumed. Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world, after water; so if we can harness health properties in this beverage, it could have huge impact on our health. And, if we can determine exactly how green tea is effective in preventing cancer, we'll be well on our way to eradicating one of the most serious killers in our society. There has been a large amount of research on the subject, and we have learned many things.First, we know that green tea has some of the most powerful anti-oxidants, and we know that anti-oxidants are important to preventing many diseases, including cancer. Anti- oxidants are important because they combat free radicals in our bodies. These free radicals are created as our bodies convert food to energy. If they are not neutralized, they damage our cells and DNA, leading to disease and premature aging. So, to prevent your risk of cancer, along with other diseases, doctors recommend a diet high in anti-oxidants. And, green tea is one of the best components of a disease preventing diet, because it is rich in anti-oxidants and is simple to add to our diets.

Has anyone tried Puerh Tea? It supposed to have qualities similar to Green Tea.

Yes, I have tried it but can't say I liked it as much as the straigtforward Yunnan that I get from my regular supllier.
You may find their tea page informative as it explains the differences of the various types of tea, including the Pu-erh that you mention.
I think pretty well all teas have the antioxidents that ae meant to be of benefit to us mortals.
In my experience the larger the leaf the more the flavour and the grener the lighter and more delicate.
Personally, except for 4 years at boarding school, I've never taken milk with tea and for at least the last 40 years, drink it without sugar too.
Just drink galons of the stuff and no slouch with medium roast coffees either.
I make up for it with plenty of water, around 3litres a day. Fortunately have good bladder, I know ... too much information!

I have a Sencha green tea every night just before bedtime ... I also take a Solgar Omnium vitamin daily which also contains green tea

but saying all that, the best green tea comes from Japan .... The Fukushima nuclear disaster is still ongoing and many say that their water system is being contaminated with radioactivity
so will be interesting to hear some views in this regard, as my perception is that green tea will soon be contaminated?

Hmm, is not caffeine-taine-guaranine, almost the same regarding the influence on the body in sport activity?

Well according to Wikipedia (which is not that reliable) the green tea does not raise the metabolic rate enough to produce immediate weight loss. On the other hand it contains polyphenols which induce thermogenesis and stimulate fat oxidation.

Green tea is the super tea as it is least processed and provides the most antioxidant polyphenols, notably a catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which is responsible for most of the health benefits.
* It not just inhibits the growth of cancer cells but also helps in killing those dangerous cells without harming any healthy cell. The greenish-yellow tea has a green, slightly astringent flavor close to the taste of the fresh leaf.
* Green tea lowers total cholesterol levels, as well as improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol. Moreover, it inhibits the abnormal formation of blood clots which is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke. Green tea represses angiotensin II which leads to high blood pressure & reduces the possibilities of heart attacks

Green tea alone will not help you lose weight. Proper diet and regular exercise is the best way to lose weight.

Ive been taking a green tea supplement for over 2 months with no effect on my weight loss or general health. In fact most of these health supplements do nothing for me. The only one thing that does me some noticeable good is Kwai Garlic pills, they help your sex functions a bit if your male. I also tried that new fat binder stuff - again no additional benefit.

It is usually recommended to drink 3-4 cups of Green Tea a day in order to receive its full health benefits.

I drink green tea with blueberry extract. It's a very healthy drink with a high level of antioxidants, however you would need to drink at least 5 or 6 cups a day to get any of the fat burning benefits.

Green tea is very good for you because it contains antioxidants which help bind fats, but for it to actually result in weight loss you'd have to drink about 6-8 cups a day.
