Hi all , first time poster and most certainly first time in the exercise / diet department. New years resolution..join a gym , lose the spare tyre and the moobs and generaly get fitter.
Well i hope that kinda kicks it all off. I DID join a gym and have stopped drinking every night of the week to just a few beers 1 night of the week and cut out snacks etc etc and am eating much more healthily. So i started the gym and made a point of getting my fittness level up for a month or so before hitting the weights. My goal is not to fill out massivly but a little definaition would be nice but to get my stamina level up. Been a few weeks and my stamina and general health have MASSIVLEY improved i must say.
Start with a 3k run in 3 min intervals of running / walking. First time 25 mins..currnt time just under 18 mins and is getting better every vist
10 mins on the ascent climber to get them leg muscles pumping
2k rowing in approx 9mins current
20 mins cycling covering approx 9k as a cooldown
Now my question is . Is this to much or the right amount to make an impact on my gerneral fitness / stamina. I FEEl it is but im no expert as u can see.
Im currently going tues / thurs / sat for approx 1 and a half hrs a go as this is all the time i can sqeeze out of my day. Is this enough?
My weight is currently 79kg and im 5'10 and 40 years old (non smoker)
i took some advice on supplements to help build stamina and am currently taking solgar vm - 75 (1 a day) and ashwagandha root extract (1 a day)
I feel ok while working out , feel the running is the hardest by far but its enjoyable. What kind of foods should i eat prior to going / finishing?
My last workout yesterday was great..felt really good after (finished at 8.45pm) and normaly after a workout i can sleep like a baby(something i NEVER do as im a stupidly light sleeper) however last night at 12.25am i felt really hot and was fidgety all night long. is this related to a good workout?
Anyways thx for reading and any help / tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there,
Sounds like you're doing an excellent job,
You'll probably have to cut back on food after a while but it's likely that you'll lose weight quite easily at first, so keep up the good work. There's not really much I have to add to that, I expect you'll get good results from that for a while yet. I think your routine sounds fine, you'll soon know if you're over doing it.
In regards to sleep, I train in the evening sometimes but never within a few hours of sleeping as it jacks up my temperature and I simply can't sleep. I advise you to do it a bit earlier if it's causing you problems. Another point on this is that you are increasing the intensity every session, so you're increasing your metabolic rate slightly for several hours which ultimately will keep you warm.
