SLCuk81 posted a topic in New to FitnessHi, I am someone who has trained all my life and pleased to say I know a fair bit about fitness, health and well being. I know many people are not the same as me, so it is great that forums like this exist for people to share knowledge. My question is - how do you know what information to trust? I see lots of contradictory posts, some based on opinion, some just plain wrong. If you read major publications like Men's Health all have articles on fitness. But some are backed by companies trying to flog a product. Some are piggy-backing on the latest diet craze or new 'super food'. Even published research done by universities is funded by someone. Many doctors are also paid by drug companies or are 'sponsored' through their studies. In short, most output has an agenda. When researching and reading about health and fitness, what are the main things that give you confidence in what you are reading? Genuinely interested to know peoples thoughts
